This little plant is called Canadian Fleabane (Conyza canadensis) and was found in East Haven on 17th July. The photograph was sent to plant expert Mark Tulley for identification. What is interesting about the Canadian Fleabane is that it hasn't been seen in Angus for over 18 years so it is a new record for this plant which normally prefers warmer parts. Perhaps it is a sign of climate change that it is now growing in East Haven. We have certainly had a very warm and dry summer that is for sure. We will continue to monitor the site for new plants and upload any findings to the national data-base irecord.
