This week we are reflecting on the loss of one of our residents, Jessie Cooper. Jessie lived in Long Row, East Haven for almost 35 years having moved to the village in the 80’s with her late husband Tom. They had two children, Brian and Laura. Jessie was born in Kirkcaldy but spent most of her adult life living in Angus. Only last summer, we were in the Bothy enjoying coffee whilst Jessie regaled us with tales of life as a primary school teacher. Jessie had taught at the former Invertay Primary in Monifieth and also at Kinloch Primary in Carnoustie. Although a very private person, she had a sharp wit and keen sense of humour which we all enjoyed. One of her great pastimes was Bridge which she played with former colleagues in Carnoustie where they had first learned to play at the High School 30 years ago. Jessie and her partner John, took a great interest in village activities and spent a lot of time enjoying the community gardens. Jessie told us that she particularly loved the gardens and boat (Two Sisters) in the photo above which is where we will also take pleasure in remembering our good friend and neighbour, Jessie.
