First Small Blue Champions in Scotland!
Yesterday the children of Woodlands Primary School visited East Haven where they were presented with badges and a certificate in recognition of their achievement as the first Primary school in Scotland to champion the Small Blue butterfly. The children also planted Kidney Vetch the sole food plant of the Small Blue along the dunes. They brought with them, beautiful painted butterfly's and facts which they had learned about this elusive butterfly which is in decline. It was a wonderful day with lots of learning for children and adults alike. It was a very fitting event to launch Scotland's first ever Small Blue week.
