Angus Heritage Week 5th - 12th September 2014

East Haven 800 is supporting Angus Heritage week with a display in Carnoustie Library from 5th -12th April 2014. All three primary schools in Carnoustie and the High school created heritage story boards telling the story of East Haven over the centuries. These magnificent art works are on display along with the much acclaimed East Haven 800 heritage bunting. Also another opportunity to see some of the information displays about East Haven and it's people, industries, schools and Church.

East Haven Maritime and Heritage Exhibition - a short film

We are delighted to make available this link to a short film made by Gregor Scott (ScotStyle music/film) about the Maritime and Heritage Exhibition held in April 2014. To comply with certain conditions, the film is not listed on utube so it can not be found without the link from this web-site.

5th - 23rd April

The East Haven Maritime and Heritage Exhibition was opened by Councillor Ewan Smith on Saturday 5th April in Carnoustie Library. Led by resident Sandie Wright, this exhibition brings together hard to find information and artefacts from both public and private collections. It is the first time that much of this material has been displayed in public and certainly the first time that it has all been brought together in the same place at the same time. It is thought that this is the most significant exhibition of it's kind ever to be held in Carnoustie.

The exhibition is organised into discreet displays covering The History, People, Industry, The Fishermen, Farms, Railway, Panmure House and Estate, Schools, The Church World War 1 and World War 2.

In addition, there are a number of valuable artefacts on display which have been found on the land around East Haven. For example, there are coins representing almost every century and old medieval buckles and buttons. There is even a canon ball which was found in the back of Tankerville which was probably fired from one of Oliver Cromwells ships during the 17th Century.

Also on display is a stunning display of Heritage Bunting the result of a large community project which has brought together people from all over the UK with a connection to East Haven. Each of the 122 panels tells something of the story of East Haven through a visual art display.

A fantastic exhibition, so well displayed and very interesting. The heritage bunting is fabulous, wonderful work and imagination. The momentos and artefacts displayed show how things shouldn’t be disposed of. Have enjoyed my visit immensely. J Crawford, Carnoustie.
