Perennials versus annuals
We have had a lot of feedback about the planting in our dinghy on the traffic island. As you know, we initally planted daffodil bulbs but later filled the boat with gold coloured perennials. The idea behind the gold planting was to celebrate 50 years of RHS and the perennials were to support the idea of more sustainable planting. We think we achieved a good balance over the year but some of you felt that we should provide more colour with bedding plants during the summer. Anne and Sandie have therefore trimmed back and cleared a few perennials and planted spring bulbs. We will also retain a bit of space for some vibrant bedding plants in the summer. Hopefully, this will continue our aim of creating sustainable planting at the same time as providing some colour for impact at the gateway to the village.
