Coin dating back to 1166
Metal detecting we have learned is seriously important to our Scottish Heritage. We were so chuffed when local detectorists came along to the opening of our exhibition yesterday. They brought with them the oldest coin ever to have been found on the lands around Scryne. It has just been dated by the Edinburgh museum as 1166 which means that there must have been trading going on in the area well before 1214 when East Haven was first recorded in Coupar Angus Abbey.
