James Porter - East Scryne Farm
Met with James Poter today who has a great interest in the history of Scryne and East Haven and has kindly agreed to loan items for public display at our exhibition. A really interesting map from 1769, shows a plan of settlements at East Haven and 'Skryne' which had a far larger community than East Haven so there must have been many people working the land. The map is one of the most interesting I have seen as it actually shows the old road on which the railway was eventually built in 1838. It appears to also show the old brewary in East Haven. The map will be on display at the exhibition.
