Bellrock Lighthouse was 200 years old in 2011 and residents chartered a boat the Ultimate Predator to take a trip out to commemorate our famous lighthouse. The Bell Rock stands out on the shore line approximately 11 miles from East Haven.
It is the oldest rock lighthouse in the British Isles standing over 30m (100 feet) high and was built in 1811 by engineer Robert Stevenson. It is precariously poised on a treacherous sandstone reef called the Inchcape, which, except at low tides, lies submerged just beneath the waves. This incredible feat of engineering has not required a single repair to its stonework since the day it was completed in 1811. The tower was demanned in 1988 and is now remotely monitored from Edinburgh
